Planting Instructions for the Marginata Colorama

Plant in spring, summer, or fall, spacing plants 3 feet apart . Dig a hole only as deep as the root ball and 2 to 3 times as wide. If your soil is in very poor condition, amend the soil you've removed from the hole with a small amount of compost. Otherwise don't amend it at all. Carefully remove the plant from the container and set it in the hole. Fill the hole half full with soil, then water it well to settle the soil and eliminate air pockets.

Care for the Marginata Colorama

Terrific Dracaena marginata plants prefer bright, indirect light. This makes them suitable for patios, covered porches, or as indoor plants. Low light will cause the plant to grow at a slower rate. Fertilize your dracaena marginata once or twice a month during spring and summer months with a balanced, water-soluable fertilizer.

During the growing season (spring and summer), water your plant frequently enough to keep the soil slightly moist. The plant is very tolerable and will continue to grow even if you neglect to water it for a couple of weeks, but that can put stress on the plant and cause it to drop some leaves.
About The Marginata Colorama

It's foliage is a near vertical to horizontal mass of narrow pointed green leaves with red to purple stripes along the outer edge. As new leaves emerge from the top, the mature leaves on the bottom drop away.

The Dracaena marginata canes can be grown straight to produce a tall plant with a compact “footprint” or be trained to curve, creating unique character plants. Several Dracaena canes are generally planted in each pot, often of varying lengths to produce a “fuller” specimen.
